Everybody who works for Tentanda Energies is responsible for the continuous improvement of our HSSE & SP performance. Together, we aim to pursue the goal of no harm to people, to protect the environment, respect our neighbors and contribute to the sustainable development of societies in which we operate.
Our HSSE & SP commitments in this regard are outlined in the Tentanda Energies HSSE & SP policy.
All who work for and with Tentanda Energies have the authority to stop any work they consider to be an imminent threat to life, health, property or the environment, or that violates legal requirements, or which presents potential negative social impact.
The HSSE & SP policy is implemented through an HSSE management framework, which includes our Operating Risk Management System (ORMS), supporting operating practices, HSE standards and local HSSE Management Systems in each country/asset.
Sustainability Framework
Our Sustainability framework is divided into three distinct pillars: performing responsibly, safeguarding our workforce and assets, and contributing to in-country value.
- Performing Responsibly – Achieving sustainable and responsible performance through operational excellence, environmental stewardship and climate risk mitigation.
- Safeguarding our Workforce and Assets – Ensuring a safe working environment, respecting human rights and becoming a local employer of choice.
- Contributing to In-Country Value – Contributing to the socio-economic development of those countries where we operate, supporting economic prosperity, and making a positive impact on local communities.
Climate Change and the Energy Transition
Tendanda Energies recognizes the challenges posed by climate change and we support the goals of the Paris Agreement to limit the rise in global temperature. We acknowledge the significance of carbon reduction as natural gas and other form of green energy becomes a vital component of the energy mix, replacing coal and liquid fuels, particularly in developing regions. We prioritize sustainability and embrace clean burning natural gas and use of other form of energy to actively contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) held in 2022 emphasized the need to limit global warming and highlighted the role of businesses and institutions in setting ambitious targets. It also recognized the African region’s vulnerability to climate change and its potential to drive innovation and transformation in the sector.
Tendanda Energies firmly believes that gas will play a crucial role in the energy transition and that sustainability and gas production are not mutually exclusive. Consequently, we remain committed to our role in the low-carbon energy transition. Our strategic focus is on sustainable growth across the energy value chain.
Our Energy Transition Strategy and Climate Action Plan is structured around the five themes of Measure; Reduce; Invest; Offset; Report & Disclose. We continue to pursue a number of initiatives to improve Greenhouse Gas (GHG) management, including various measures on measurement, leak detection and facility emission reductions.
